I researched the chain hoax called Champagne lovers.  This email hoax claimed that if you forwarded the message to 10 contacts a man in France would send you 6 bottles of champagne!! Back when I had a Yahoo!Mail I probably received several hoaxes because I received millions of forwards.

Wed, 25 Apr 2012 09:17:00 -0700 Incredibly Expensive Software http://musicdude8.posterous.com/incredibly-expensive-software http://musicdude8.posterous.com/incredibly-expensive-software

I researched two different types of software to buy.  The first that I researched was Microsoft Powerpoint.  This software is used to create Powerpoint presentations (obviously) and then manage these presentations.  It costs $139.99 to buy/download.

The second type of software that I researched was Adobe Photoshop Elements 10.  This software is used for photo editing and creating ablums.  It costs $69.99 to download/buy.

Thu, 19 Apr 2012 09:23:00 -0700 HDMI, VMA, VGA, SNL, AFV, and other accronyms that don't go together! http://musicdude8.posterous.com/hdmi-vma-vga-snl-afv-and-other-accronyms-that http://musicdude8.posterous.com/hdmi-vma-vga-snl-afv-and-other-accronyms-that

A HDMI cord is a cable that combines video and audio all in one.  It is much better than a VGA which can only do video... which would meanyou'd need another cable.  BSod stands for Blue Screen of Death!!!!!!!!!! Some steps that you can take to secure your laptop so it does not get stolen are using an anti-theft device, never leaving it unattended, carrying your computer in an inconspicuous carrying case, locking it in your trunk, locking it in your car, locking it in a safe, locking it in your house in a safe, locking it in your garage in the trunk of a locked car, and also recording information such as serial number and make of your laptop.  Another very basic way to not have your computer stolen is to not let stranger use your computer.  Don't let your mother-in-law use it either.  :) Just kidding!

Some other abbreviations that don't fit into this post but are mentioned in the title!

VMA - Video Music Awards

SNL - Saturday Night live

AFV - America's Funniest Home Videos

Wed, 18 Apr 2012 09:36:15 -0700 Solidly Stating Storage That I Use! http://musicdude8.posterous.com/solidly-stating-storage-that-i-use http://musicdude8.posterous.com/solidly-stating-storage-that-i-use

Flash_Drives.docx Download this file
You may be interesting to know that some of the current solid state storage that I use is a micro-SD card in my mp3 player, SD cards in my camera, as well as many USB flash drives (half of which are lost :)

I went to Amazon.com and investigated two different 16 GB flash drives.  One was a Kingston brand for $13.99.  The reviews make it sound adequate, however you cannot "plug in" two on top of each other. The other was a Sandisk for $5.99. It has a sleek design and also performs well... according to the reviews i read.  Also, I own a Sandisk and it is works great.  Thus, I have decided on the Sandisk 16 GB Flash Drive.

Thu, 12 Apr 2012 09:19:32 -0700 LAB EXPLOSION #42: Binary Code Failed :) http://musicdude8.posterous.com/121790817 http://musicdude8.posterous.com/121790817

These are the answers to a smattering of the questions from the Binary Code Lab! Please read and absorb this helpful information!

These are the anwers to Question 2:

a. 1100100

b. 1100100

c. 100000000

d. 11011

e.110000

f. 1110000

g. 1100000

h. 10000000000

These are the solutions to Question 3:

a. 4

b. 5

c. 12

d. 21

e. 15

f. 16

g. 120

h. 54

This is the explanation I unraveled from Question 4:

On Question 4, 1001 = 9.  This does not fit with the rest of the sequence.  This leads me to believe that either just this single number in the sequence is wrong... or all the other numbers are wrong!  I would either change this 9 to a 10, or change the other parts of the equation so they are multiples of either 1, 3, or 9.  Any of these given to solutions to fix the problematic sequence are possible.

Wed, 04 Apr 2012 09:27:00 -0700 drowssaP... Not Secure! http://musicdude8.posterous.com/drowssap-not-secure http://musicdude8.posterous.com/drowssap-not-secure

Today we learned about password hacks and tips for having a secure password.  Password hacks are very common... especially if you have a common password. (as viewed in the green table/chart) Several different methods are used for hacking passwords, including the obvious ways of watching people type and looking at the sticky note they put on the top of their screen to also using hacking software.  Some tips for making secure passwords were to use letters, numbers, and symbols.  Also, you can use total jibberish that actually means something to you.  Luckily, according to the green table, none of my current passwords contain the most commonly used words.  To make my own passwords more secure, I could add some random letters and numbers into the password to spice it up... but also to make it more difficult to hack.  At this point, I do not think I need to change any of my passwords, but they definitely could be jazzed up or added to.
